I only mentioned that I have used Sophos for a few years. I did not recommend Avast, and I agree, I have seen many reviews of it not working properly with the Mac. First rule of keeping your Mac safe - do not download software from any site except the Mac App Store unless it is recognized to be a safe site (like Microsoft or Adobe).
